Participants must be at least 15 years old to register for the program.
Participants must pass a pre-requisite swimming skills test prior to registering for the lifeguard course.
The pre-requisite skills are:
- 300 yard continuous swim consisting of front crawl and breaststroke
- 2 minutes of treading water, legs only
- Timed swim event: Swim 20 yards, surface dive to the deepest point of the facility to retrieve a 10lb brick, resurface and swim on back while holding brick with two hands on chest, swim back 20 yards, place brick on the side of the pool and climb out without assistance of ladder or stairs
The online blended learning course will require that participants complete their online training PRIOR to the scheduled in-person skills sessions.
Upon successful completion of the full course, participants will receive a certification for: Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. This certification is good for two years.
To maintain the certification, you must complete a recertification process prior to the expiration of your current certification.
