Jack Kirrane Ice Skating Rink

2023-24 Skating Season - Opening December 11, 2023:

The Skating Rink will open to the public for skating lessons, hockey leagues, and private rentals. The rink offers skate rentals of both figure skates and hockey skates. Please visit the Brookline Recreation home page under Ice Skating Reservations to reserve time.

Whether it's a birthday party, a school family event, or you just want to plan an organized game event with your friends and family, the Jack Kirrane Skating Rink is the place to have your next get-together. Hourly rates: Brookline Resident - $300, Non-resident - $400

Enjoy open-air ice skating at the historic Jack Kirrane Ice Skating Rink during any of our public skate hours - no reservation required!

Weekday Public Skate Hours

Tuesday/Thursday: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Friday: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

              8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Weekend Public Skate Hours

Saturday: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm 

Sunday:  12:00 pm - 6:45 pm

Adult Drop-In Hockey

Adult drop-in is for skaters 18 years of age and older. Drop-in hockey is an informal, non-checking game for players of all skill levels - with no officials or supervision. It’s a great way to have fun, improve your skills, hang out with friends, and stay in shape all at the same time. A helmet is required.

Monday/Wednesday: 9:15 pm - 11:00 pm

Sunday: 7:30 am - 9:15 am

*No Hockey on holidays or school vacation weeks

Baystate Skating School

It’s time to sharpen your blades for the coming winter season. Lace-up your skates and join the fun.

  • Recreation, Figure, and Hockey skills taught by professional Instructors
  • Skaters must have sharpened Figure, Hockey, or Recreation Skates - NO Double Runners
  • Skating helmets are mandatory for students ages 4 to 9 years old and highly recommended for everyone. Mittens/gloves are encouraged.
  • There is a 25-minute lesson and a 25-minute supervised practice.
  • Skill progression: balancing, falling and getting up, glides, turns, edges, crossovers, spins, jumps, and more.
  • This is not a drop-off class.
